Last month, Donny & I met up with Joy + Ian in celebration of their engagement & upcoming wedding. Their urban session features so many cute moments, tons of scenic variety, & some of Youngstown’s finest photo locations. We had so much fun exploring downtown Youngstown & visiting The Butler Institute of American Art and Fellows Riverside Gardens with these two, and we’re in love with the variety this gallery has to offer!

When planning this engagement session, Joy expressed interest in wanting an urban/industrial & natural/elegant mix of scenery. We suggested some cool little hole-in-the-wall spots in downtown Youngstown that we could briefly use and coupled them with staples of the Mahoning Valley, Fellows Riverside Gardens and the Butler Institute of American Art. This was a great choice by Ian + Joy and offered tons of landscape variations for our shoot. Joy + Ian’s outfits also worked perfectly for these locations, deciding on both formal & casual looks. Joy’s long blush dress, in particular, was so pretty, while Ian’s blue navy suit complemented her so well! It all came together so nicely! It was great planning on Joy + Ian’s part!

Ian + Joy were so much fun to hangout with and so cute together throughout our session! It can be intimidating getting professional photos taken, especially for the first time, but these two weren’t bashful about displaying their love for one another, and we’re so happy they chose us to capture it! We always love engagement sessions because they act as rehearsals, in a way, for the big day and allow us to get a feel for what our couples really love and prefer! It’s always great practice for the wedding, and we really enjoyed getting to know these two a little bit more during their shoot!
