Elliot + Naghmeh's Beautiful Persian American Wedding at Signature of Solon in Solon, Ohio | June 8, 2019 | Youngstown Wedding Photographer
On June 8th, we had the privilege of telling Elliot + Naghmeh’s wonderful & unique story! Being out of state residents, we, unfortunately, didn’t get a chance to meet this wonderful couple before their wedding day. However, it didn’t take long to understand how they came to be and how well they work together. Their energy, playfulness, love, & understanding of one another was apparent, and they weren’t shy about it!
Elliot & Naghmeh are a Tinder success story. They’re also two individuals who come from different backgrounds, Elliot being an Ohio man and Naghmeh owing her beauty to Iranian heritage. To honor both of their cultures & families, they decided to have a dual multi-cultural Persian American wedding featuring two separate ceremonies. Each was so beautiful & special in its own way.
Naghmeh + Elliot’s first ceremony was an outdoor American ceremony overlooking the water & green at Signature of Solon in Solon, Ohio. It was short, sweet, & intimate. It even featured Leo, Elliot + Naghmeh’s handsome shibainu fur baby! Directly following this celebration was a traditional Persian Aghd wedding ceremony, featuring the Sofreh Aghd, a 2500+ year old tradition.
The Sofreh is a beautiful, large decorative table cloth which holds many different symbolic items such as honey, apples, pomegranates, spices, candles, a mirror, and more which represent qualities the new husband & wife wish to make a part of their marriage. The bride & groom are seated near this spread and for a portion of the ceremony they are covered with a large white canopy held above their heads by female family members. The couple then playfully feed one another, sweetened or blessed by these enriching elements. It was so interesting to witness and so special to capture!
Elliot + Naghmeh were so smiley & lively throughout both ceremonies and over the course of their big day! They truly enjoyed every moment involved with tying the knot, and we’re certain everyone involved did as well! Their lighthearted ceremonies were followed by formal portraits & a fun, rowdy reception which featured a little rapping, heart-to-hearts, intimate dances, Elliot rocking it on guitar with the family band, and so many great moments!
