A couple weeks back, Donny & I had the pleasure of meeting up with Sean + Jacqui for their urban engagement session in Akron, Ohio. We had so much fun exploring Akron with these two and capturing such sweet moments for them! Their session was so unique & artistic!

Being Akron natives, both wanted photos close to home & heart that would reflect their backgrounds & personalities well. Jacqui was tired of looking at rustic, outdoorsy Ohio engagement photos and wanted something different—more urban & lifestyle-esque in the city. Sean found the Akron Photo Society—a gorgeous furnished space located in the historic B.F. Goodrich building—on instagram and they immediately fell in love with it! We did, too, upon seeing its classic red brick walls, huge surrounding glass windows, Victorian furniture, & antique furnishings. We knew we could make some magic in this unique location and we’re so glad Jacqui & Sean decided to use this spot. (As a side note, we think it’s incredibly amazing that dozens of small businesses are now utilizing and preserving this historic structure!)

Following our shoot at the Akron Photo Society, we travelled through the gridlocked construction heavy downtown Akron to Lock 4 for some cute outdoor urban photos. Akron is full of great red brick buildings and has that cool urban decay vibe given its industrial history—much like Youngstown. We also headed over to a local bar to capture a few quick lifestyle photos to conclude the session—and to celebrate a little.

Jacqui & Sean were so awesome throughout the entire session, despite the crazy humidity & temperature on this hot July day! They were very down to Earth, laidback, lively, and cool individuals to be around. Jacqui + Sean were also naturals in front of the camera, although they had some reservations initially. (It’s totally normal to feel nervous and even awkward doing anything for the first time, especially taking professional photos.) We know it can be intimating, but we’re here to help, and the photos always come out so cute!
